A rare spec, rear wheel drive, turbocharged, manual Volvo estate car – perfection! It is common to see these cars with over 250k miles on them still going strong and is very rare these days to find one with under 100k. Widely regarded as one of the most safe, robust and reliable cars ever produced.

This is a late model 940 and benefits from the final and strongest iteration of the famous B230FK redblock engine and M90 manual gearbox. This is the ‘Classic’ trim spec, and benefits from central locking, automatic climate control/ air conditioning, full leather interior, heated front seats, electrically adjusting drivers’ seat, leather steering wheel and electric sunroof.

Finished in turquoise pearl metallic with a black full leather interior. Volvo 5 spoke ‘Auriga’ alloy wheels with a full-size spare in the boot. Unfortunately, the original stereo had stopped working, so I have replaced it with a modern but retro/ OEM style Blaupunkt unit – this does mean that the car is now equipped with DAB radio, Bluetooth audio and phone, aux and USB input. The original stereo is included if you wish to keep it with the car. The interior and exterior are in beautiful condition for a car of 29 years of age – she turns a lot of heads! Please have a good look through the photographs. I don’t think she has ever had any paintwork.

There are no mechanical issues to report. The car is effortless to drive - beautifully smooth with a good surge of power available when needed. No funny noises or rattles – she drives better than most new cars! The car has just had a full service, including spark plugs and ignition leads, as well as a full new exhaust system, a set of 4 new tyres, a new tyre on the spare wheel, and a complete brake rebuild with new discs, pads and fittings all round. The car sailed through its MOT with no advisories – she is ready for another 29 years of service!

The previous owners of the car had it since March of 2000, and it passed through multiple family members before it was offered to me for sale. I even have the invoice from that purchase in 2000 from Deeside Motor Centre, where they part exchanged in their old 1984 Volvo 240 GLT for £500 off the asking price of £10450 for this 940!

All-in-all a stunning example of an appreciating, highly reliable and practical modern classic.
