Description
1985 Ferrari Testarossa, UK Supplied, RHD, Monospecchio, Monodado.
Hailed by Pininfarina as “an exaggeration of flamboyance”, the Ferrari Testarossa captivated the world and epitomised the 1980s. Evoking emotions and memories of a 16-bit era with the arcade legends ‘Chase HQ’ and ‘Sega Outrun’ and on the big screen as Sonny and Rico’s crime-fighting companion in Miami Vice.
Supplied by Maranello concessionaires, Egham, on August 1st, 1985, to Mr Ray and registered on the first day of the all-new ‘C’ registration to C381PPB.
Unsurprisingly, the most desirable Ferrari Testarossas are the early ‘Monospecchio’ and ‘Monodado’ cars that distinguished themselves with their single ‘flying mirror’ and knock-off hubs. This early example is the second Ferrari Testarossa supplied to the UK, which the Ferrari archive department confirmed.
Finished in its factory specification of Rosso Corsa over Crema hide and complete with full Ferrari ‘Schedoni’ luggage.
The bodywork is exquisite. In 2023, a full professional repaint was commissioned and documented with photography to complement its history file.
Mechanically, the car performs excellently, having been recently cared for by Foskers Ferrari with supporting invoices for recent Cam-Belt, remedial works and tyres.
Its supporting history file contains its leather-bound factory book pack, owner manuals and service booklet. Early service records, order forms, purchase invoices, MOT and archive documentation from Ferrari confirming its build specification and its rarity as the 2nd vehicle to be supplied to the UK and added to the fact that there were only 419 UK RHD examples throughout the entire production run, makes this car increasingly unique.
Inspection is welcome to appreciate the condition of this Testarossa. Interested parties will be comforted that the car is to be supplied to any new custodian with full service and MOT at Foskers Ferrari specialist.
