Description

1975 Ducati 750GT. Beautifully presented classic in red and black. Fresh MOT and service.
I bought this GT at the end of 2022 intending to use it on sunny days. A knee injury soon put paid to that and I have ridden it about seven miles in my two years ownership. I have to accept that I will not ever be able to enjoy this bike on the road and so it is time for me to pass it to its next owner.
This (almost) matching numbers 1975 round case 750GT was imported into the UK in 2018, from the USA via Poland, where the previous owner lived when he bought it in the USA. The description I got when I purchased the bike said that it had been restored to a good standard and the condition of the bike backs that up. However, I was given very little paperwork and nothing prior to it arriving in the UK. It was serviced and MOT’d by Made In Italy Motorcycles in January 2020 and again in October 2022 just before I bought it. It is MOT exempt and the previous MOT expired in October 2023.
It has now been MOTed and serviced by my local dealer, Garage7 in Southampton on 28. 3. 25. I will upload photos of the MOT and invoice for the work carried out. The invoice mentions a problem with the switch on the left bar end. I sourced a NOS switch in Italy and this was replaced as part of the work. The front brake pipe was replaced with a steel braided hose and the battery was also replaced.
I have taken pictures from as many angles as I can to try and show the condition, including the odd blemish. I hope these show that this is a very well cared for bike and I can take further photos of any areas of particular concern if required.
I have a walk around video with it ticking over but I do not use social media so not sure how I can upload this. Please let me know if you would like me to provide the video.
The mileage on the Smiths clocks is showing as 23, 342 and looking at the condition of the bike I have no reason to doubt that this is genuine. The original crankcase lead seal is still present.
Engine No. 756202 shown on the picture of the engine casing, together with the DM750 stamp.
Frame No. 756202 shown on the picture of the foil sticker on the headstock. However, as has been pointed out to me and is backed up by Ian Falloon’s book on these bikes, the foil sticker was added for the American market and covered up the actual frame number on the headstock. I have now pealed back the foil sticker as gently as I can, (it is part of the history of the bike so I don’t want to destroy it) and uncovered the actual frame number, 756204 so pretty damn close. Please see the photo. The V5 shows the two numbers matching so I have sent off the V5C to DVLA and get it corrected. There is a second number stamped on the headstock which is the homologation number, correct for this bike, very difficult to photo but I will add the pics and if you zoom in you should be able to make out DGM 95. 95.
Wheels are beautiful Borrani alloys, pictures show the numbers of front and rear wheels. Note that the rear rim is a very rare 4777 type, normally only found on the 750SS.
Tyres are Avon Roadriders with plenty of life left.
Forks are Ceriani.
Front brake is Brembo.
Fitted with the very rare side stand.
Throttle has been modified to the Tommaselli 2C setup for more accurate throttle control.
Conti exhausts as per pictures have the Ducati part numbers to both the down pipes and silencers.
New battery fitted as part of the recent service.
In my ownership I stripped and sonic cleaned the carbs, replaced the seals and one broken jet. I replaced the rear brake cable because the brake light switch, which is part of the assembly, was sticking and causing the battery to drain. I took the bike for a run this morning when I picked it up from the garage and it runs without fault. This is my second 750GT, the last one went about twelve years ago when I moved house and before my knees packed up! I also had a ’79 900SS which was much more of a beast than the 750. The bike is everything you could wish for in a classic Ducati, prefect handling, pulls like a train and sounds tremendous. I won’t bore you with the history of these bikes as anybody seriously interested will know they are a legend. Please contact me and I will be happy to talk your ears off about this or any other old Ducati.

MOT to 27. 3. 26. Serviced on 28. 3. 25.
