Description
Owned for almost 19 years and recently restored, this is an honest little 5 that is ready to be enjoyed and has a current MOT and will come with a new MOT on purchase.
Over the last 5 years this car has been restored with a focus on making it a reliable, fun and rust free solid example with a mostly original look. The paintwork is close to pristine, recently resprayed following the completion of an extensive restoration including inner and outer sills, floor pan, windscreen surround, front, rear arches and much more.
After completion of the welding the car was passed to a trusted professional for the respray in the best original colour, electric blue, flow coated for longevity and depth before the new decals were applied.
Extensive picture evidence of the restoration will come with the car showing the extent of the hours spent on bringing it to to this condition.
The inside matches the outside with fully retrimmed interior in original ph2 fabric, bolsters replaced where needed and a plush correct grey GT turbo carpet to complete. The electric windows have been replaced so that they don't suffer with the normal required assistance to go up and down but do so correctly at a normal speed. The dials are a nice bright orange and an afr gauge sits in place of the clock. The parcel shelf is present and correct with no holes, door cards are also uncut with original speaker grills, although they have been dyed to a darker grey. Rear door cards are good condition ph1 so no saging fabric or other usual frustration
The original grill comes with the car and sprayed ready to fit, currently it has an open mouth grill to aid the grill mount intercooler. This is the only unoriginal exterior part, standard bodykit and alloys are fitted and in good condition.
The engine is largely standard with lightened flywheel, cup breather setup, 4 paddle ap racing clutch to handle the extra power provided by the vnt turbo which is setup for around 17psi of boost which thanks to the vnt, is delivered in around the same rev range as the original T2 but without the limitations of the tiny original.
The advisories on the mot are for deteriorating tires due to age. I am happy to fit new or negotiate on these. There are also various spares that can come with the car. The car comes with a good history file which is largely comprised from myself and the previous owner and stretches back over 20 years.
I have seen a lot of 5's over the years and in my eyes this is now one of the finest 5's around, with no obvious untoward flaws to the body or interior and ready for the next owner to enjoy and maintain to this standard. The previous owner used the car regularly until a head gasket failure and then embarked on a full rebuild which was completed by Colin Cook aka’ the master’ back in 2003. There are some receipts from Colin for this and I continued to use him for some maintenance in my early ownership. Following the rebuild in 2003 the car needed body work before MOT and the car went up for sale with the freshly rebuilt engine still needing running in.
I purchased the car at this point and completed the required work which was the drivers side sill and it was used as a daily driver for a short but fun year or so before getting a company car. At this time the 5 became a sunny weather summer toy and also gave the opportunity to take better care of it as it was already a fairly old car at this point.
It has always been kept roadworthy but in 2019 a proper restoration started to bring the car to the condition it is now in.
There is simply to much to remember or write, if you would like to discuss the car and you are serious about owning then please get in contact and we can discuss properly.
