Description
This is an extremely rare Mercedes V8 convertible with factory AMG styling! According to 'How Many Left', there are just 71 of these Elegance CLK 430s left on the road.
It is lower to tax than vehicles just one year younger (I paid £345 for the year in October). It is ULEZ compliant (unlike many similar cars of that vintage) and I pay less than £150 a year to insure it!
Now, the car itself is in excellent condition. I have spent thousands on it. In my 7. 5 years of ownership, it has benefited from:
- New roof material
- New Offside front wing (replaced due to corrosion)
- 2 x respray of sides and removal of other minor corrosions
- New brake pipes and hoses
- New steering shaft
- New Aircon radiator (blows nice and cold)
- New engine and gearbox mounts
- New central locking pump
- New rear drive shaft and cups
- New radiator
- New springs all round
The car is in really very good shape for its age. I am sadly having to part ways with it because I am currently out of work. So, there are some minor items for attention that would bring this car up to an immaculate standard. If I had the money, I would:
- Replace the arial (it got bent when I put the cover over it)
- Refurbish the alloy wheels
- Respray the bonnet
- Repair where the driver's seat has come a part at the seam
- Replace one of the speaker covers (cracked)
- Possibly replace the window glass?
That is it! The car would look pristine if those tasks were completed.
The vehicle is always garaged and placed under a cover in the garage to stop the dust getting to it. I don't drive it in the rain.
The last MoT was in September. I passed with advisories (the most serious of which have been addressed). I have a mountain of paperwork from the time I've owned it. I have never SORNed it and have been sure not to let it sit for too long, finding nice crisp dry winter days here and there to take it out and stretch its legs!
There are 3 former keepers, which shows how much time each owner has loved the vehicle for over nearly 25 years!
