Description
'79 Midget in Vermillion Red with just over 72, 000 genuine miles. Very well looked after car with excellent bodywork.
No evident rust anywhere apart from a few small bubbles on the front near side wing (see last two phots). Everything is sound and solid, including the sills.
All instruments, heater, lights and wipers work as they should.
All chrome and aluminium is in great condition with no pitting.
Hood is in good condition and there is a tonneau cover for when it's down.
Car has been undersealed throughout (factory option maybe?) and has had a re-spray at some point.
Starts 'on the button' and drives really nicely although it 'wanders' slightly above about 40mph. This seems to be worn track rods.
Slight weep from gearbox bell housing, but nothing major.
Lots of history including copies of all V5's, most MOT certificates. and receipts including:
At 72, 045 miles the following was carried out at a cost of £3, 600:
Brake booster, Vacuum pipe, Brake pipes, Cylinder head conversion to unleaded, Radiator repair, Distributor cap, Ignition leads & Plugs, Both Carburettors rebuilt, Electric power steering system fitted, Door mirrors.
The electric PAS is manually operated via a knob on the dash. It's great for parking etc, but then can be fully wound out to disable it once on the move.
Haynes manual and 2 sets of keys included.
Not currently MOT'd but is exempt as it has historic vehicle status with the DVLA
10 owners including myself, but in fairness, the first owner is listed as the garage that initially registered it and I only bought it a few months ago from my brother-in-law to use this summer, but my circumstances have changed and I am now looking to sell (unfortunately).
