A heated front screen and polycarbonate rear and side door with historic wind up windows fitted, also a Fibre Glass Bonnet & Fibre Glass Boot.
Engine & Wiring
Originally a pre-cross flow 1498cc professionally built producing 106bhp with 95ftlb of Torque with Lotus internals. Also an aircraft type wiring loom was added and all linked to a push pull fuse box mounted between the seats.
Engine Updated to Lotus Twincam
Due to a class change after co-vid19, in Belgium from Historic H1 up to 1600 and year 1968, to H2 up to 1979 made the class for the Cortina un-competitive up against the Escorts etc. So a Lotus race Twincam was sourced and rebuilt with all steel internals and large valve head with new QED Rally cams by Nick Adams ex Lotus engineer of Historic Racing Services in Norfolk. The new engine produced 160bhp with 125ftlb of torque built for reliability, Dyno sheet supplied.
With a new engine the car had to verified by the MSUK in order to get an updated HVIF form and new MSUK Passport, so the car was modelled on Ford Works driver Henry Taylor’s car he drove the first GT cars to be fitted with a Lotus engine on some International rallies, prior to the Lotus Cortina being produced.
The engine has only done 685 road miles since being setup on the Damico Racing’s of Norfolk Dyno.

The 4 speed Quaife Straight Cut gearbox was overhauled and checked then linked to a new competition hydraulic clutch in an alloy bell housing.

The rear springs are Cortina GT preferred in rallying rather than the Lotus A Bracket lotus system that was weak. The rear shock absorbers are new Bilstein Group 4. The front suspension has 40mm Bilstein Group 4 inserts and roller bearing top mounts with 160lb springs, located by two anti-tramp bars.
Brakes
The Front are Girling 10inch solid discs with 2 pot callipers and Group 4 alloy hubs, with CL R6 tarmac pads. The rear brakes are Girling 9inch drums with competition shoes with modified Group 4 studs. Historic regulations now allow a Hydraulic handbrake to be fitted, and most of the brake lines are now braided.
