Description

UK Original 1980 Testi Champion Special 50cc Sports Moped - Fully Restored - Mega-Rare Boutique Bike From the FS1-E/ AP50/ Fantic/ Gitane Era.

V5C in my name with just 2 previous owners.
Registered as a historic moped, so Tax and MoT exempt.
I know of only 3 other UK original from new Testi Champion Special mopeds that are currently registered, only a handful were originally sold in the UK.
Just 2423 miles from new in 1980.

Bike is only for sale due to an imminent house move.

Unique fuel tank in the frame design with fibreglass bodywork and fairing, hydraulic cartridge front suspension, monoshock rear suspension, front disc brake, rev counter and mph speedo.

The Testi has been fully restored while keeping as many original parts (including nuts, bolts and washers etc.) as possible.
Frame, swinging arm etc. blasted and repainted.
Minarelli P6/ 4R engine and gearbox professionally rebuilt.
Crankcase covers, radial cylinder and head vapour blasted.
Fibreglass body and fairing repainted, the yellow and blue graphics have been painted on and lacquered over rather than using decals.
New windscreen.
New seat base, foam and cover.
Alloy wheels blasted and powder coated.
Modern Continental ContiStreet tyres fitted.
Exhaust and clip-on handlebars re-chromed.
De-restricted with Dellorto 19mm carburettor and big air filter.
Modern 12 volt electronic ignition fitted.
Plus lots more, please ask for full details.

This is a very similar bike to the French built Gitane Champion Veloce apart from the later Radial style cylinder and also 4 speed gearbox as opposed to the Gitane's 6 speed. The Testi has Lispa hydraulic front fork cartridge inserts which are much better than the 'pogo stick' spring only forks of the Gitane.

A fabulous boutique sports moped, even rarer than the Gitane Champion Veloce, Fantic Chopper, Malaguti Olympique or the Fantic GT Super Six and far more exotic than a KTM Comet GP or a Puch Grand Prix Supreme.
Not to be compared with a tarted-up old FS1-E that has been abused by more than 30 different owners and is full of poor quality and ill-fitting pattern parts.

Parts for the Testi are still readily available. The Minarelli engine was used in many mopeds and there is an excellent specialist in France who keeps most of the engine parts in stock. Another chap in France has stocks of many parts specific to the Testi and Gitane mopeds. The fibreglass fairing and bodywork can also be sourced from France, accurate reproductions made with moulds taken from original parts. Rubbers for footrests etc. can be sourced from Italy. So, although super-rare, this is a bike that can be maintained with the correct parts. All of the suppliers mentioned above are happy to ship items to the UK.

Please refer to the photos and video which form part of the description.

Being sold as a historic moped, so no warranty is implied or given.

I'm in the north of Scotland but can recommend an excellent courier who delivers just about anywhere in the UK for very reasonable prices.

Payment by bank transfer please, no PayPal etc.

Thanks for looking.
