Description
1967 Triumph TR6P/ Bonneville: Matching engine and Frame numbers
This machine has been subject to two significant modifications, first a Bonneville cylinder head and secondly T140 front forks and a disc brake.
I have been the happy owner of bike but now want to move on. I have enjoyed it as a “ride for pleasure machine”, whereas someone else might wish to use it as the basis for returning to standard. More details are provided below.
Engine clutch and gearbox.
The engine is mechanically quiet, it starts and runs well. The clutch is quite light, the gears all select well.
Lights, horn and Instruments
The 12 volt electrical system is fully functional. The speedometer and rev counter both work and are accurate.
Petrol Tank and mudguards
I had the fuel tank and rear mudguard re-sprayed recently in dark metallic red (similar to the colour of the 1968 Trophies) for nostalgic reasons. The front mudguard is stainless steel.
Forks
The front forks are from a T140 and carry the appropriate AP disc brake. In my view these forks are much more compliant than the originally Triumph ones.
Wheels and Tyres
The chrome on the front wheel rim is good, as are the spokes.
The rear wheel rim chrome is probably original and could be better.
The tyres have plenty of life left in them.
Documents
I have the V5 and it is registered as a historic vehicle so road tax is free and no MOT is required. The later T140 forks and disc front brake make this bike a bit special.
