Honda CB900 owned and ridden by Colin Marshall
Honda CB900 twin cam engine prepared to HRC spec. converted to dry sump, over bored to 996cc, and fitted with oversize carbs, Amal Mk2 carbs were fitted later by Colin, to improve power & throttle response.
Originally purchased as a complete machine from Geoff Brett Motorcycles, ridden by Chris Guy, fitted into a Peckett and McNabb race chassis.
Converted by Colin Marshall back to a standard Honda chassis and altered by Nick Parrovani, with a modified swinging arm, frame bracing, oil tank, top and bottom yokes, with “high” handlebars.
Colin was a privateer, with support from PDT who made “flight cases” in which the bike was transported to and from events, including the Macau GPs in 1982, 83 & 84.
In the mid-80s, Colin also entered the bike into the 1st ever UK round of the World Endurance Championship, held at the Silverstone GP circuit.
Colin’s second rider for this event was Gordon Russell, who changed & tuned a standard CB 900 engine, finishing a credible 16th place.
Colin also rode the bike in the British F1 races, held at, Donnington, Snetterton, Brand Hatch & later entered the Isle of Man, Senior TT.
The rider and machine continued to enjoy success in the far east with a 1st in Class & 9th overall @ the 1984 Macau Grand Prix.
Colin then moved away from the UK to make a career, racing in Asia, @ circuits in Thailand, Malaysia, & Indonesia.
Colin gave the rolling chassis to his UK racing friend and sponsor Robin Spring, who then had the machine restored by Nigel Everett. The engine of this bike is a CB 900cc converted to HRC spec. including the dry sump modification as can be seen.
