Who doesn’t love a big flathead!!??
1946 Harley Davidson model U with a 1200cc powerplant with 4 gears (which means you can happily cruise at 65mph). You tend to hear more about the pretty knuckleheads of this era but even though they share the same frame and dressings, the big flatheads are much more bomb proof and reliable.
I’m a huge fan of the 45 flatheads but wanted to go that extra mile (or mile per hour) by having a bit more power and a 4th gear for the motorways. This bike won’t disappoint.
It’s a very old restoration and has plenty of patina and character. It’s a very much used machine that has always got me to the destination. It’s on a 12 volt system with a magneto (so no worries about lights running out of battery and always plenty of spark). It’s shifts smoothly through the gears. Serviced by the oracle at Bell45.
Regarding the paperwork and specifics, this is a UK bike, engine number with matching belly numbers, very original, solid, serviced regularly, rides fantastic, starts well. Rear brakes excellent, front brake is good (and that’s not often on these bikes!), also has the very rare pillion foot pegs, buddy seat is also included in sale.
Go find your Marilyn Monroe because this bike is ready to bring the dream alive.
