1988 Renault 5

Welcome to the sell of my Renault 5, HPI clear and low mileage. A true classic and excellent example to be appreciated, I brought this off a friend originally from glasgow where it underwent restoration. Breakdown of pros and cons below as honest as i can. During the original restoration (2022, before I brought it) it has had new windscreen, new sills, bumper (painted), brakes, battery, and service (about 2200 gbps worth), engine and gearbox was thoroughly checked prior to restoration and runs very sweet/ no issues. I since brought it and for MOT in 2022 (expire 2023) added new shocks, new wipers, new tyres, new washer pump, new bonnet catch, all other important aspect checked (horn, choke, gearbox) at around 1000 GBP. In June 2024 and Jan 2025 (MOT) I also spent 1350 gbp to redo the sills and some rust areas found (derust and repainted near rear door area, all underneath cut out rewelded Proper & undersealed - this last job ensured it was sealed properly), all panels was also thoroughly buffed to bring out original colour since. New MOT also includes all engine bay cleaned Proper, new horn, electric checks, brakes & underside cleaned, fresh service, and speedometer sorted & general cleaning in other areas inside & out to mint it up the mechanically & cosmetocally, in all over 4 to 5k worth of work is done to the car, genuine reason for sale as I am looking for a decent estate auto for my dad, and had a good few rides in this one - about 4000 miles during my ownership, it would drive from one end of UK to another with no issues and had never ever broken down on me. Minor bad bits is that interior driver seat has a small rip (but all original), minor sag to the roof lining, fuel reading isn't 100% accurate and shows no fuel when below 25% capacity, slight oil leak as per MOT advisory, and speedometer don't work but will come with after market GPS speedo. In summary its one of a very few rare standard automatic 5 door hatchback 1. 4 petrol that is mechanically sound and whose bodywork is well maintained with good money spent (see below). Clean and solid from underneath as rewelded/ undersealed in Jan 2025 for MOT, will come with new set of classic alloys. Viewing/ full inspection welcomed and test drive is strongly recommended to see/ test drive for yourself. Can offer further details of previous owner and garage where MOT has done for proof.
