Description
1967 Austin MK1 mini
Import from South Africa (fully registered and I have copies of the original paperwork/ import details)
It was built in 1967 but was not registered until 1970.
Completely solid and original body - looks like it has never had any welding!
It's been repainted I believe and it looks good from a distance/ polishes up well but there are some blemishes
The engine (I believe a 998cc) starts and runs nicely (video available) but will need some work to make it drivable which as far as I know is -
Clutch
Brakes
Water pump
HT cap & leads
It needs someone that can do all the finishing off/ tidying up jobs (like the steering column cover which is there but not currently fitted/ clocks/ bonnet stay and boot catch etc). It needs the engine repainting from the awful colour it is currently! But it is as sound a body as you can get unless you bought a new one. Ideal weekend tinkering project.
It had cooper badges/ some cooper trim but my intention was to take that off and return it to standard. It has a Cooper 130mph magnolia speedo.
Brand new Ultralite Cooper S Reverse wheels and yoko tyres with hub caps (one is missing in the picture but there is a brand new set and a few spares).
7. 5" disc brake conversion on the front - upgrade from the drum brakes.
I'm so very sad to have to sell her, but I don't have the time to get her to the standard she deserves so hopefully she can find a lovely new home and someone can get the joy out of her. Incredibly solid and great starting point to make a show and shine classic. It was imported to the UK as part of a job lot of cars and I registered it with the DVLA so I am the only owner in the UK. I always wanted a mk1 and had lots of plans but sadly life just has got in the way. It had started to be turned into a Cooper replica but my intention was to put it back to standard as it should have been, with maybe a couple of nice little upgrades like the disc brakes on the front to make it nicer to drive.
