Description
The spec of the car includes full leather seats, A/ C, xenon headlights, cruise control, rear parking sensors, electric windows all round, heated electric mirrors, premium stereo with aux in and CD changer, remapped ECU. This is a very well-equipped car!
123k miles (low for year) with tonnes of service history, including cam chain, water pump and top end rebuild in 2018 at a cost of over £2, 000 – those who know about these cars will know that the 2006 and 2007 models had an issue with soft valves that wore excessively over time and lead to poor compression and rough running – compression is now excellent all round.
MOT until 13/ 09/ 25
ULEZ compliant with lower tax bracket (compared to the later 2. 8 litre car)
Over the past 2 years the following work was done:
ECU replacement including remap from Noobtune (the ECUs on these cars are prone to failing due to overheating. Replaced with a low mileage / last of the line ECU from a later car, with one of Karl’s 250bhp remaps). Very impressive performance upgrade over a standard 2. 0 car!
ECU heat shield kit (to protect replacement ECU) fitted when replacement ECU was installed)
New brake booster vacuum pump
Full service including transmission fluid and brake fluid, and all filters
New genuine coil packs x4 and new platinum spark plugs
New rocker cover gasket kit
New boost solenoid
New spark plugs
New silicone boost hoses
Various new boost and vacuum lines
New front drop links
New rear springs
New front spring
New inlet manifold pressure sensor
PAS pump rebuilt with new OE gaskets, seals etc
New PCV valve fitted (throttle body removed, cleaned and new gasket fitted when doing this job)
New A/ C condenser and dryer etc plus re-gas – all working as it should be now with ice cold aircon
2x new front tyres fitted less than 4k miles ago
Most of the above were new genuine Saab parts from Neo Brothers, the main OE specialist parts supplier in the country for Saabs.
All of the above should tell you that the common issues these cars can develop have all been sorted and prevented – at considerable expense. This means you don’t have to!
Cosmetically the car is very good for its age inside and out, as per the photos, but it is an older car so it's not perfect. There's no rust on the bodywork but there are a few marks etc to be expected of a car from 2007, so please don't expect a showroom-condition car. No known faults and no faults according to my fault code reader. You really will struggle to find a better example of a 9-3 Aero.
This is the last year of this body shape of 9-3, so it has the facelift dash but the older 2003-2006 exterior. If you like this body style, you will be hard pushed to find a newer one, and it will be very difficult to find one that has had more recent work done on making it a cracking example. The 2. 0t that this car has also manages to dodge the eye-watering high tax bracket
that the 2. 8t incurs – so this is definitely the one to have.
