Description
1992 Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI 8v
144, 287 miles
MOT until December 2025
It's come time to sell my Golf which has served me incredibly well having been well looked after over the last couple of years. It's been a joy to drive - engaging, reliable and has a great exhaust note. The car is mechanically and structurally sound, rainbow interior with no rips and the paintwork in good shape. I've loved owning this car over the last four years, but it's not used frequently enough to justify keeping it any longer.
The car is finished in LP5T Blauschwarz metallic paint, apparently a rare colour and has been garage-kept throughout my ownership. Not just a pretty face it has been reliable , having been driven to Belgium and back without skipping a beat.
I've refreshed many parts with OEM quality parts, primarily electrical as the car has always been mechanically sound. New starter, alternator, ignition coil and I replaced the battery in the last 6 months. All fluids flushed, including transmission oil. New pads, disks, upgraded to mk3 callipers and wheel bearings. I added a bunch of sound deadening and weatherproofed all the doors. Underneath is waoxyl'd and very clean. It always gets compliments at garages.
The only service history is from the previous owner and myself, but there is a good amount in there.
Additional:
- 16" Calibre Vintage BBS-style wheels
- Screen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto
- Sunroof
- Immobiliser
- Headliner in good condition
Things to be Aware Of:
As a 33-year-old car, there are a few things to consider
The car has developed an intermittent issue where it sometimes doesn't start with the key but always starts by jumping the starter motor. I haven't had the time to investigate this properly.
The paintwork looks good from a distance and cleans up well, but there are some age related marks including lacquer peel and a paint repair job on the roof. It's generally tidy but I've never thought of it as a show car.
There is rust spotting around the rear lights and just starting on the scuttle board.
The rear wiper and central locking are not working (a spare wiper motor and central locking pump are included).
