Description

Honda CB200 B 1974 rare front drum brake model with 4, 006 miles from new.

What a rarity! When did you last see a front drum brake Honda CB200 B with such low miles?

I bought this lovely bike from a collector (who'd had it for 10 years in his collection of around 100 bikes), with the intention of putting new tyres on it and riding it in the summer. Then I realised that it’s still wearing what I believe to be its original Yokohama tyres both with 5 or 6mm tread still. Its also still got the yellow Honda paint on the drive chain link so It's the original drive chain (I worked in a motorcycle workshop in 1979/ 80 and Hondas always had this when they were taken out of the crate and assembled). Both of those things back up the super-low mileage.

It was supplied by Kitson Motorcycles, Westgate Rd., Newcastle as pictured on the sticker on the tail light bracket. When I got it the engine was covered in what I suspect was ACF-50 or similar to protect it which had obviously been on there for many years. It had hardened a bit yellow but had kept it really nice, and it took two days to remove it and uncover what you see now.

It does run and the engine is really quiet – again backing up the mileage. All the lights work as they should and it has a new battery courtesy of the previous owner. There are a few spares included such as new oil and a few other bits and bobs. There are two keys (the original one which is still in mint condition and a second one which I was lucky to find on eBay). The owner’s manual is still in the pocket under the seat and the toolkit is still present too. I do have a Haynes Manual which is included in the sale.

The silencers have previously been replaced with a pair from David Silver Spares Ltd.

When I bought it, the petrol tank had some sort of liner in it, probably to just protect it when stored, so I removed it and it was in lovely condition under it (a little trace of the liner is still present).

It also comes with front and rear crash bars although the front one has rusted.

The last MOT was in July 2011 and the mileage then was 4, 001 miles.

It is registered as an Historic Vehicle which means the road tax is free and it does not require an MOT. I have a few old registration documents, one of which is from February 1978. I also have some old MOT certificates - one from June 1995 showing 3, 836 miles, one from 1998 showing 3, 899 miles, and one from 2011 showing 4, 001 miles again backing up the low mileage.

Obviously its over 50 years old and so it has to be bought with that in mind. That said, it doesn’t need rebuilding, but there are a few cosmetic things to play with if you just fancy something to work on.

Thanks for looking.
Mike
