Description
A very honest 1990's restoration of a 1956 G80CS which has been ridden and enjoyed rather than continually polished, this bike is in good condition and runs well but it's not concours. I'm having to sell it due to an impending house move and loss of a garage.
A brief history of the bike: It went straight from the Plumstead factory in London to California where it stayed until 1990 when it was brought back to the UK's south coast, restored, commissioned for road use and registered. It then spent several years in a swanky London office as an interesting "art piece" for a famous British designer. He was then persuaded to sell it to a friend who then had to have a (right) metal knee fitted and sold it to me in 2020 fearing any "kickback" would break his new knee!
Since I've owned it, I've just loved riding it, cleaned and polished it on dull/ wet days but generally, just loved riding it. I'm not mechanically minded so when anything needed doing to it , it was done by a friend who owns Diptune in Batley and is a Matchless enthusiast.
Since I've owned it I've had the following done/ fitted:
New/ Reconditioned Smiths S. 491/ 3/ L Chronometer from Chronometric Instruments in Nottingham (mileage is since new Chronometer fitted)
New Mitas tyres
New AMAL carburettor fitted and tuned by Diptune
Last serviced (September '24) by Diptune
Centre stand fitted by Diptune
