Description
Toyota Celica 1600GT Hughes of Beaconsfield Gp 1½
Genuine, original 1978 car with a well documented, extensive history. Goodwood regular
Raced in the BSCC 1978 by Mike Wilds, 1979 by Alec Poole and Martin Brundle and by Martin Brundle again in 1980.
With Toyota officially coming on board in 1979 this car was one of a pair that became 'works' supported cars run by Gordon Mayers and Hughes of Beaconsfield.
All the races in period are documented with original race programmes and magazine reports.
Most of the 1979 and 1980 races and tests are also covered by the team's original type written notes contained within two thick folders. They include detailed race and test data, parts lists, competitor information, regulation changes and entry lists
The car is fitted with a Dave Wild engine with a 4. 4kg Kameari flywheel, refreshed one race ago, it's been a regular competitor with the HRDC and at the Goodwood Members Meeting, also eligible for CTCRC
Importantly the car has a current HTP that includes all the necessary 'extras' to bring it to Gp 1½ spec including a tubular Martelius exhaust, 13'' wheels, Weber carbs and adjustable suspension.
Substantial spares package, including engine, gearbox various ratio CWPs and body panels.
The car is registered for the road and comes with a spare set of Minilites shod with road tyres and number plates
This is chance to own a really usable piece of true British motorsport history, popular with lots of race organisers.
Can be seen running at Goodwood on Saturday 22th March
