Description
This 2CV6 Spécial was restored to the highest possible standard by marque specialists, Driving Spirit of Angmering, West Sussex, in 2020-21. It is presented as an homage to 2CVs of the very early Seventies, in 1972 Citroën Bleu Carmargue, with light grey trim accents and period grille.
Unfortunately the owner never had the confidence to take the car out on her own and thus it is reluctantly up for sale, having been garaged ever since - apart from being taken for just one visit to an MOT testing station.
The car benefits from being totally rebuilt with a brand new body shell on a British ‘SLC’ galvanised chassis and having many additional brand new panels installed. These include all doors, bonnet and wings, among others. The undersides and internal floor areas were protected with, among other coatings, colour-tinted Cobra truckbed liner - a vastly tougher version of stone chip resistant finish and the whole vehicle was rustproofed.
The wheels and Michelin 125 ‘X’ tyres were new. The engine and gearbox were totally stripped and rebuilt by Driving Spirit, with all new parts as required and reconditioned metal engine cowlings fitted. The car has Gammatronix electronic ignition.
Seats were completely rebuilt on overhauled frames and trimmed in matching blue vinyl with discreet cream piping by Matt’s Soft Tops - who also supplied the Grey Tweed roof and doorcards.
A very full photographic record of all these restoration works exists in Driving Spirit’s archives. It is also available to view on their Facebook page, under the album ‘Maurice’ (the name given to the car).
The vehicle will be supplied with a new MOT and a thorough pre-delivery inspection - with any adjustments or renewals necessary - will be carried out before the new purchaser takes possession.
