Description

This stunning restored Triumph TR6 was built in 1971. It was purchased in 2023 by a retired engineer who restores classic cars in his retirement. The body was removed from the chassis and the chassis was fully restored and painted. All the suspension, brakes, fuel lines, brake lines and hoses were renewed with new or painted. The body was restored with new panels where necessary and then painted in white. Pictures of the process in the history file. The body was placed back on the chassis and the partially rebuilt engine and gearbox installed. Unfortunately this is as far as he got! I purchased the car in early 2024 with a view to doing the interior and finishing off the detailing. The interior was treated to a new Burr Walnut dashboard and a new dash top. The high back seats had new covers and the black door cards, rear trim and black carpets were cleaned and re-fitted. New sun visors, glovebox insert tray, gear knob & gaiter and inertia seat belts finished the interior off. A full new wiring harness was fitted to refresh the electrics system. The boot got a new boot board, sides trim kit and carpet and the fuel tank a new sender unit. There was also new wipers, electric washer pump, washer jets, headlights and chrome lamp rims. I then sent the car to be tuned only to be told that the engine was very tired and needed a rebuild. The block was chemically cleaned, checked & tested and honed before it was given new pistons, rings, camshaft, core plugs, mains & big end bearings, oil pump, new clutch, head gasket, alternator, clutch slave, all new gaskets, heater valve, electronic ignition and an expensive unleaded cylinder head. The twin Stromberg 175 carbs were rebuilt and fitted with a pair of Lynx Ramflow air filters. All new filters and fluids completed the job and the engine and box was re-fitted. There is a new alloy radiator with a stainless radiator cowl kit fitted and a new battery. The car has a good black vinyl soft top hood and it sits on silver painted 15" wire wheels shod with a matching set of 185/ 70/ 15 Vredstein tyres. Over £30k has been spent restoring this car. The car is now finished and looks fantastic. Even better in the flesh than in the pictures. It has done zero miles since the rebuild and will need to be run in before changing the oil. Don't just read about and dream. Come and see it.
