Description
1977 Land Rover series 3 pickup, classic marina blue and sandstone combination, which was in truth the main reason I bought her.
She's got a daihatsu DG 2. 5 litre diesel engine from a Taft, fitted back in the 80s, with the original gearbox. This could be swapped out for the later 2. 8 turbo variant, which was my lomg term play, without any further modification. 1 ton brakes and axles are fitted and since I bought her I've fitted LED headlights, all the front brakes have been replaced, the brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinder have also been replaced, and I fitted a top hung Jaguar throttle pedal for more comfortable driving, along with a hidden mechanical cut off. She's also had a rebuilt starter motor and a new 3rd and 4th gear detent spring. In the last few weeks she's started jumping out of reverse but I don't have a spare couple of hours to change the spring, although I will leave a bag of new springs in the truck. She's pretty solid and presents very well but is obviously still a classic land rover so she's not perfect and is a bit of a workout to drive. I also have a good canvas cover for the truck bed.
She could do with some tyres at some point as they are a little perished, and the spare is split, although all 4 rims are very good. There's also room for improvement on the interior but she's comfortable and presentable. The heater also works which was pleasant on a run I did with her and a trailer up to Birmingham and back last year. Unfortunately I don't really have any history aside from the logbook, although my view when I bought her was she's enough of a tractor that it should be reasonably apparently if she's been looked after.
I would very much like to keep her but there's no point her sat in my driveway looking pretty when I don't have to time or the money to use and improve her.
Priced at £8950 but open to offers as I am fairly keen to sell her and make some space.
Thanks for looking
