Here we have a true survivor car, this Mk2 Escort was registered new to Mr John Milner of Camberly on the 24th Dec 1976 complete with added extras of Front Floor Matt’s, Set of 4 Mudflaps, Vinyl Roof and Zebart Body Protection, Mr Miller then used & maintained the car until his demise sometime in 2020, but during his ownership he maintained and fastidiously recorded every aspect of the car’s maintenance which is all contained within a very large collection of paperwork containing but not limited to the Ford Service Book, All MOT’s & Tax Disc, huge amount of receipts, many hand written notes and letters, hand written car expense books, and much more, without doubt the most comprehensive car history we have seen to date.
So the car is self we would describe as a survivor, totally standard in every way, two different types of wax oil / rust proofing were applied when the car was new which have have ensured the car has survived in its original condition some 48 years later, while it presents very well the car does have some minor imperfections and Mr Miler obviously saw himself as a dab hand with a paint brush has done some touch ups here and there over the years with the paint used still within his “box of tricks” in the boot including oils, water, antifreeze tester, foot pump & crook lock, all part of the cars history as we see it
In 2020 as part of his estate the car was gifted to his brother Mr Hugh Milner who proceeded to carry the torch for a further four years at which point he then decided to sell the car.
Since taking Receipt of the car we have lightly recommissioned with new battery and tune up, having driven the car thereafter it was really quite surprising how well the car drove, smooth, quiet and without fault like only a true low mileage car can do
