Description
Fairthorpe Electron Minor 1961
Subject to a body off chassis and running gear restoration in the late 1990s with very minimal use since. The chassis, suspension, brakes and running gear are all in excellent condition. The chassis is painted in a fetching Ferguson TE20 grey. The car has been upgraded with aluminium floors, and a non FIA welded in roll cage with scuttle hoop and door bars.
There is room for improvement with the paintwork which is showing it's age. The car has been sparsely used and would benefit from a rolling road session to get the best out of the gorgeous and very rare engine.
Specification
The engine is lightened and balanced and very free reving.
Ford X-Flow 711-M 5 bearing block with Newman PH3 cam with pre X flow modified head (1298cc).
Twin Dellortos
Rebuilt by Charlie Mallock at Mallock Engineering in 2019 with almost zero use since.
Large amount of bills and huge history file.
Recent upgrades include a new Aldon 103FXY distributor which suits the camshaft really well.
Ford 2000E gearbox providing slick positive gearchanges.
Ford Anglia back axle
Bespoke tonneau cover
Racing light weight battery with external cutoff.
New Kumho tyres fitted last year.
Brakes are disks and drums with braided hoses and adjustable brake bias. More than enough to stop a car of little over 500KG.
It's a blast to drive (aren’t all Fairthorpes?) and is a huge amount of fun on twisty lanes or hillclimbs / sprints. With the suspension backed off a little and the addition of a passenger seat it would make a great road car. It was MOT’d until earlier last year although the car is MOT exempt.
Reluctantly for sale as it isn’t being used as intended.
Come and have a look. I live near Leominster in Herefordshire. Rare and affordable with a fantastic owners club (FSCC). The Ford Anglia mechanical bits are straightforward to maintain with a good amount of new and second hand parts available. When did you last see another?
