Description
Perpetua used to trundle around Aughton near Ormskirk, Lancashire when bought on 1 Feb 1970 by Miss Marjorie Holmes who was a well known local Sunday School Superintendent. When she reached 92 she gave up driving and as a young graduate and former neighbour, I bought Perpetua in 1984 and drove her down to Beckenham where she has been garaged ever since. For two or three years she was my main car but once I was given company cars she only rarely ventured out of the garage! As the second lady owner, I am not mechanically minded either!
Registered as a historic car, Perpetua passed MOT tests till Dec 2011 (mileage 38, 425) and was subsequently SORNED as I was just not using her. I moved abroad and have now retired there and will be selling both my flat and Perpetua. In October 2024 (when photos taken) a car enthusiast friend pumped up the tyres, pushed her out of the garage and quickly got her working. Since October she has had her petrol tank flushed and a rear conditioned fuel pump and a new fan belt installed. She has run well on recent local trips As planned she has had an MOT before the viewing dates and she passed on 19 February 2025. I am also hoping to find the old papers on her by then, including invoices of works done on her last century by King Street Motors in West Malling for example.
In summary, Perpetua still has her original engine, paintwork and interiors. While she has some surface rust (see photos)
including on car roof, I am told there is no structural rust when inspected from beneath. Her petrol gauge does not seem to work. She deserves being owned by a garage owning enthusiast who can restore her to her former beauty with tender loving care and enjoy regular outings with her.
Viewings are planned for Saturday and Sunday 1 and 2 March 2025 when I shall be in attendance. For the MOT on 19 Feb 2025 the mileage was recorded as 38, 454 miles. I am currently abroad and unable to take any photos of Perpetua. Genuine low mileage of original engine
Original interiors are in very good condition
Good base for a restoration project of surface rust and chrome finishes
Perpetua was the first car I spotted as a child in Aughton with new white/ yellow number plates well before they became a legal requirement on 1 Jan 1973.
