Stuff not working on XJ-S:

1. Nearside wing mirror - up/ down action (left/ right works). Have a fully working replacement nearside mirror part.

2. A/ C not working. Never bothered. Heater is not brilliant but does work.

Condition:

1. Bodywork is very good but to the keen eye, has had paintwork done (before my ownership). Can't see any obvious panel differences - all same colour tone. I Machine buffed, compounded and polished it last Summer - now ultra smooth lacquer finish!

2. Aged related but very few body blemishes can't be seen (only to the keen eye).

3. Characteristics of the usual V12 5. 3 MINOR leaks. Doesn't overheat. Oil pressure is steady and correct.

4. Interior very clean and tidy. Refurbished veneer ski slope and only one piece on the dash - wood veneer has a small non-noticable crack.

5. Radio head unit has a CD/ front panel remover and works with electric ariel. Have an original head unit part which works.

6. Trip computer has power but doesn't really read accurately. Never bothered with it (I kept the battery disconnected when garaged) but could be either reprogrammed or replaced.

7. Wheels all good. Tyres all good (last mot: all 31% worn/ 5mm left).

8. Electric windows, central locking, gauges, and switches work.

Not perfect but in above-good/ excellent condition. Always could be improved but drives very, very well. Engine is solid and strong as it has been regularly serviced.

History of works done in my time:
1. Expansion tank replacement (Nov 2023)
2. Replacement oil sender units (Nov 2023)
3. Offside wing repair, inner sill rust repair (Sep 2021)
4. General repairs - dodgy horn, power steering pipe, corroded rear suspension (Nov 2020)
5. New battery (Jun 2020)
6. Replaced pas rack and pinion & pipes (Jul 2019)
7. Regular services.

Spent over £5000 in my ownership. This car was one of my boyhood cars, growing up in the 1970’s.
I recall my first experience of sitting and being driven in a new V12 HE and smitten with the smooth, quiet and powerful glide of that V12 engine.
The level of luxury too made this a perfect grand tourer and not a follow on from its predecessor sports car, the e-type.
Its time to move it on as I pursue other ‘wish list’ cars from an era I grew up in.
