Description
Silver Eagle Atlantic saloon by Car Bodies. Suicide door model. Marchal headlights. Remarkable full history file back to manufacture. Six cylinder triple carburettor model, fast, great to drive and totally reliable. Close ratio gears, aluminium clutch housing, improved diff ratio. The interior is lovely with original rear seats, high quality re-trim by Royle for the front seats, carpets etc in the 1980s, which now has very nice patina, but remains in excellent condition. The car had roof and roof lining replaced at that time, both in very good order.
Excellent cylinder compression, recent full carburettor overhaul by specialist engineer, running very nicely indeed. The car is very presentable and driveable as it is, but would benefit from re-painting if you want a concours type car. The only job of any consequence is that the drivers side rear door needs work to get hanging and closing better.
All in all a very handsome powerful car, which is in good order for someone who wants a go rather than show motor, but with zero rust, is a great opportunity to make a high finish car without great outlay.
If you are that way inclined, the registration is original and transferrable, and of course the car would make a fast powerful special.
Priced to sell. Swaps for Riley 9 saloon in good condition, or Lancia Aurelia saloon (berlina) seriously considered.
I am open to sensible offersThis car has been well loved by successive owners, the first a lawyer from Edinburgh kept it from new until 1960 and toasted it with champagne with friends and family on its 25th anniversary. Other notable owners included very well known vintage enthusiasts, who campaigned the car vigorously in VSCC events.
Several previous restorations and all 6 owners are documented, including several engine rebuilds and extensive maintenance. In my ownership, with the excellent support of the Alvis Register, I have serviced brakes and clutch, replaced fabric carden shaft joints, plus total refurbishment of the SU carburettors to get the car powering along like a six cylinder vintage Alvis should.
