I'VE NOW OWNED 34 YAMAHA R1's OF ALL INCARNATIONS - THEY ARE MY "SPECIALIST SUBJECT" & I KNOW A GOOD ONE WHEN I COME ACCROSS IT & HERE IT IS!
No fewer than 12 stamps in the service book by the SAME supplying Dealer from new & just serviced by JG Motorcycles 2 months ago (no miles done since) & having covered a mere 20, 055 miles the engine sounds like new, starts on the button & has blatantly had a very pampered life ... especially for an R1! All the usual tell tale signs of hard use are not there, such as original black rubber on underneath of gear lever (very rare), no marks on the "hero blobs", no marks on the edge of the front fairings, every original fixing/ fasteners, engine bolts in superb condition & still there. Totally original normally means NOT thrashed in my experience as well, and always something to look for. Uncut mudguard, all panels still with original datataged stamps on. Lovely condition original exhaust, and screen & even has the tool kit (I have OEM original orange indicators that will replace tinted ones in photos)! Unmarked steering top yoke (again really rare) - I literally cannot find any faults.
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION THESE EARLY R1's ARE FANTASTIC VALUE RIGHT NOW, STILL AN ABSOLUTE WEAPON, BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT & AN INCREDIBLY GOOD MODERN CLASSIC FOR SUB 4K! HAVE TO GO UP SHARPLY VERY SOON IF YOU LOOK AT THE PRICE OF FIREBLADES & EARLY GIXXERS
Please look at the competition out there with cut mudguards, wrong or scraped exhausts, various rusty bolts, scratches etc. etc. silly coloured bolts & various non-original parts - you simply won't find a better example than this genuine one.
I am semi-retired & do this as a passion/ pension top up - consequently my bikes are competitively priced (I have no overheads) & I believe you will not find better presented examples as I personally detail them PROPERLY with no jet washing or harsh chemicals by using waterless wash & go system & a lot of WD40.
N. B. Although working quietly from home, I am technically a "Trader" just to be completely transparent.
