Murray Cruiser Bike/Balloon Tyre 1950s Original American.

Murray Vintage Original 1950s Cruiser Bike, Red and White, Balloon Whitewall Tyres. Im very familiar with Vintage Beach Cruisers, but its the first time ive seen one of these beauties. Torpedo front light, side kick stand, rear lights mounted in the rear hub, (never ever seen this before), rear rack and its original Bicycle Number plate from Detroit. This is a pedal back brake system like on most of these American bikes of this era. The Tank is lovely and stylish and a comfy riding position. Red and white dice valve caps. The only thing thats been recently replaced is the seat as the original disintergrated as beyond repair, so after a year or so search for the correct one, another Buddy Seat was found at nearly £250. These Murrays were built in Ohio and were outsold by the Schwinn Bicycle Company which for some reason a more popular bike in the day. Which makes these very very rare. As the story goes this was displayed in a Drive In/ Cafe somewhere in the US, this doesn, t surprise me as everything is good but original condition. Nothing has been tampered, and no paint areas have been touched in with new paint. The chrome has been coated in what looks to me as WD40 to preserve and protect it including the wheel rims. Rides nice and just stops people in their stride as you glide past. Always gets a conversation started wherever it goes. Ive never ridden it in the wet or mud. its so cool, seeing is believing...... I was told this Murray Cruiser Bike was a 1950, i beg to differ on that i think mid 50s, but im sure the experts will tell me otherwise.
