Description
Reluctant sale of my Ford Sierra Estate, it is a 1989 Ford Sierra Estate 2. 0 GL, first registered in June. It has around 71, 000 miles on the clock. I am the third owner. Have owned it since September 2022. It is a very practical and useable classic, requiring only maintenance work to keep using on a regular basis. MOT’ed till August 2025, with zero advisories.
I have done nearly 8k miles in my ownership. In this time I have replaced the rear arches, put a new wing on, new exhaust, carb rebuild including replacement parts for the auto choke system and serviced the car every 6 months. Underneath is brilliant (can take / show pictures) and I have been lanoguarding it every winter. I recently did 380 miles in one day with no issues. Tailgate is not brilliant and previously use to fill with water due to a rust hole behind the handle; I have opened the drain holes and put some fibreglass and filler in said hole for now after a failed attempt to get a better tailgate to replace it with. Due to this, I have a bunch of spares, including: spare tailgate, bonnet in rough condition, damaged wing, most of the internals of the tailgate, spare window regulator, spare carb in bits and a spare Weber 28/ 30.
Good car with zero MOT advisories and needing nothing to keep on the road as a practical and good daily. 30mpg on average. Towbar works and is solid. Only selling as buying a property and had some unexpected costs. Happy to send videos, photographs etc just get in touch.
Only thing that may impact usability is sometimes if you do not let it get up to temp properly before driving off or do not use the car regularly (I aim at least weekly) the car will stall or idle at around 500 revs for a small period of time, does come up once up to temp though and always restarts (I quite often just do a “push start” when it occurs). I suspect this is due to the new auto choke coming off to early, instead of being stuck on like the old one. Didn’t notice this issue when I first got the car setup right, only once it started to get colder as it would take 5-10 minutes to get enough temp.
As the car is nearly 36 years old now, there is of course marks around the car. Don’t expect a concours example. I have paperwork going all the way back to when it was new including a mostly filled service book.
Cars located in Bristol. Happy to have a call. Feel free to contact me for any questions related to the car.
