1985 Capri 1. 6 Laser project.
Bought as my next project but an XJS has come up I can't say no to so need to make some space. I’ve got the V5 in my name. Please note you're buying the car and associated parts, not anything you see in the background of the photos!
Shell has been sand blasted, so it's not hiding anything from what I can tell. Had a thin coat of primer after this which has started to let surface rust through, but it polishes up fine and I was planning to bare metal before paint anyway. The rear quarter have been started to be prepped before I got it and there is a fair skim of filler on them, but have chipped some off and seems solid behind.
Welding had also been started, done to an ok standard but I was planning to do redo some (headlight area) when doing the rest of the welding, but it’s not hiding years of nasty repairs, it's certainly a heck of a lot better than the other Capri's I've restored. Sills are original and not too bad, floors good, strut tops good, spare wheel well needs a tiny patch, rear corners just need a few repairs and most of the spring mount area is still there but frilly, so that'd probably the biggest job. Front longitudinal stiffener plates need replacing (standard Capri) and the top corners of the front wings/ wing rails need replacing.
The upper body is really straight and has two new wings on it. Only issue on upper body is the front panel is a bit of a mess, so I got a whole front end clip so I can transfer bits across. The front panel is nice and straight on this but needs a couple of bits of metal work on the ends, but well worth the effort give the cost of a new panel!
In terms of parts, they are all nicely packed up and as best I can tell the majority of stuff is there, including fixings/ clips etc. Parts I’ve noticed missing;
Seats
Floor carpets
Engine
Gearbox
Gear knob
Bumper centres (steels)
There may be other bits missing, but I don't think you're going to need much else to complete it
£1500 takes everything and I'll even deliver it within 50miles of CV37 for £100 + £1 per mile. If you want to haggle, feel free but anything under £1500 and I'm keeping the spare front end.
