Description
Land Rover 2. 25 litre petrol Long Wheel Base Series model in excellent condition with only light use since engine rebuild and earlier body off restoration. Starts first time, sweet running and ready to use and enjoy.
It has been sympathetically restored by the previous owner, replacing parts as needed and adding fold-up side seats and windows in the rear, a good substantial tow hitch, and free wheel hubs. During my ownership I have carried out the complete service schedule, and also changed to halogen headlights, installed seatbelts, and had the engine reconditioned with a new block by Glencoyne Engineering – a well respected Series Land Rover specialist. It has two spare wheels and all the tyres have good tread.
The previous owner did some research and apparently it started life with the Army and was eventually road registered in 1973 as L registration. It is of course tax and MOT exempt and has a heritage certificate.
I have used it for classic car shows and for doing summer maintenance around a paddock (a LWB is so much more practical than SWB), but it has not been subject to any rough off road mud-plugging. After I bought a compact tractor I found that it wasn’t needed for any field work, only going out for the occasional fun run or car show, so I really need to pass it on to a new owner. It’s a good runner, starts first time, and receives a lot of attention at classic car meets.
