Description
E220 coupe. Low mileage and smooth running beauty of a W124 seeks loving partner for next phase of life.
This car belonged to my friend’s grandmother from new, who only drove it short distances. The private plate references her husband’s initials - he had the saloon and bought his wife the coupe. When she passed away, it passed to my friend who didn’t have a license, so she sold it to me. So I still have a lot of the original paperwork, manuals and original items like maintenance kit. I was the first person to take it on a motorway!
I’ve had it for about 9 years - in that time I’ve done the usual services and maintenance - tyres, lightbulbs, bits of tidying up - and on one occasion had the head gasket skimmed, but it’s never failed an MOT. However, since the ULEZ introduction and some changes in my life I simply don’t have the time to love it and drive it enough.
I’ve got most of the service history and it’s MOT’d until Feb 2026.
They call it a coupe but she’s a big girl. Four seats, pillarless windows and enough boot space for all the suitcases you could possibly need. Immaculate leather and walnut interior, no rips or scratches. Original mats, some staining commensurate with age but no damage.
Blaupunkt stereo with tape deck and FM radio. Sounds lush!
Tons of 90s luxury touches - huge sunroof, button seat adjustment, automatic seatbelt arm, and of course that shining Benz badge on the front of the bonnet.
Some cosmetic damage to body that needs looking at - a couple of rust spots to wheel arches, a broken front bumper and scuffs to wheels.
The car runs really well and has been a joyful cruiser for the years I’ve held her.
Looking for someone who has a nice garage in need of an easy project and wants to give her a tidy up so she can live out her retirement on road trips and weekends away. As you probably know these cars are absolute tanks - there’s a lot of life left in the old girl yet. Honestly, this isn’t a car I’d usually have ended up with, but I have so many stories from my friend about childhood trips with her grandparents in either this or the matching saloon her grandad had, that it feels like a part of my history too.
I’ve driven it with love for years - house moves, road trips, holidays and quick trips to the supermarket, me and Fern have been through a lot together.
I’m really hoping to find someone who really loves these cars and is excited to give her a new lease of life - someone who is also excited to put a bit more mileage on her, because 54k for a car of her years is simply not enough. Take her out and show her a good time.
