Description

Volkswagen Vento 2. 8 VR6, 1997, Manual, RHD

Key Points:
- MOT Until Dec 2025
- Less than 10 roadworthy examples of factory manual VR6 Vento's left on UK roads
- Reg: P500 MCG
- AAA engine / 2792cc
- 106, XXX miles (will check exact mileage and update, currently in a dry garage not at home)
- Cat N (non structural, cosmetic/ paint, all sorted by previous owner, parking scrape on door)
- Available for viewings, notice required due to car not being at house and I am away a fair bit currently with work.

Not being forced to sell, but have a few projects so offering this up for sale whilst it is parked up in dry storage over winter. If it doesn't sell will happily be in use again from Spring so mileage may start to increase. But there is always something else that need's buying so be happy for it to go to a good home if the opportunity arises.

The price fundamentally reflects what I have in the car over the last couple of years and what similar cars have been on the market for, but will listen to offers.

- Full black leather interior in overall very good condition
- Last service: oil, coolant, plugs, filters
- Parts replaced last 12 months: radiator, expansion tank, crack pipe, thermostat, thermostat housing, most coolant hoses (now have spares for the last 3 so will do next service), coolant temp sensor, original factory airbox sourced, drivers window reg. Along with new Catalytic Converter and Lambda Sensor at cost of £900, now flies through the emissions test.
- Custom cat back stainless exhaust fitted by previous owner, lovely tone but not droney at all and not too loud.
- Stance+ coilovers fitted by previous owner, only a few years old
- Unlike many Mk3's, no water ingress at all, totally dry inside at all times.
- A very rare car these days, and is a totally useable modern classic as it stands or make a great base for a full restoration/ project build.
- All windows/ speakers/ wipers/ lights/ mirrors etc etc work as they should.

- Paint condition: good overall but far from perfect, slightly flat on the roof, blemishes but comes up well, wings replaced by previous owner to a very good colour match. Pretty much about as expected for a 28 year old car.

- Structure: Very solid for the age, some corrosion picked up at the rear on the MOT, none of this will be new to a Mk3 owner, sills have been protected, much of the underside has been undersealed by previous owner. Obviously not perfect underneath, but I have seen (and owned) many much worse examples over the years and this is for sure one of the better ones out there.

- Engine: Runs and drives really well, pulls smoothly as it should. Comes up to temp nicely, fans kick in and bring it back to 90.

Bad Bits:
- Headlining starting to sag
- Small coolant weep
- Very small oil leak
- Aircon all but removed (not that it was ever any good on these)
- Heaters don't always get fully warm, (heater matrix was done by previous owner) I believe an airlock that needs sorting, could do with a new secondary water pump so aid with clearing and cycling the coolant at idle.

With the above issues, some are just simply next on the list so will be getting through them when the weather warms up. Whilst in there I would also like to do the oil cooler, oil temp sensor and the remaining two (of the three) sensors in the thermostat housing just for the sake of fully refreshing these systems.

I have probably missed stuff so will amend as I remember and just want to paint as honest of a picture of the car as possible. I guess if you are looking for one of these you know what to expect anyway.

And I will be adding better images in the coming weeks as soon as I get a chance to get down to the garage.

Could potentially be open to looking at swaps for something 80s/ 90s German or Japanese, not looking for anything in particular but never hurts to ask.
