Description
1976 Ferrari 308 GTB vetroresina (fibreglass)
one of only 712 factory fibreglass cars produced between 1975 & 1977 regarded by many collectors as the holly grail of 308, my car was built on the 31/ 12/ 1976 as a left hand drive vehicle and supplied to a dealer in bologna.
In 1998 the vehicle was imported into the UK and converted to right hand drive, I purchased the vehicle in June 2007 in it's original colour of Rossi Chiaro, prior to my purchase the interior was upgraded from black to it's current cream Daytona style interior by KHP/ The Ferrari centre at Maidstone, the work carried out also included extensive service & repairs as required with bills on file for circa £18000.
The vehicle left the factory with a dry sump engine this was at some point removed and replaced with the current wet sump unit, the vehicle currently shows 101000 km ( not confirmed) in my ownership the vehicle has been used sparingly only covering about 3000 miles since 2007, I am an engineer by trade and have carried out my own maintenance to the vehicle including regular oil & filter changes and a cam belt change.
There are as always some bad bits, as you can see from the photos the car looks very respectable & presentable but to make perfect it really requires a respray, the bonnet is none standard for the year but I have a brand new correct Ferrari part in primer to be supplied with the vehicle, the electric windows require repair as these are often problematic on these vehicles
I also have the original air cleaner box as well.
The above faults are obviously reflected in the price as mint condition examples of these vehicles can command upwards of £150000.
Despite it's faults and lack of originalality it is after all still a very rare car and the price allows for future investment.
