I am selling my lovely old '72 VW type 3 Variant after owning the vehicle since 2016. I purchased the car from Alex Noel after he imported the car from Norway where it was originally supplied from new. Its a late 1972 model 1600A with twin Solex carbs and freeway long ratio gearbox. Although '72, It was fitted with a 1973 US highback interior.
The car was originally Ziebarted from new so is virtually rust free. The floorpans have been cleaned inside and treated/ painted before new sound proofing/ carpets, seat covers, and door panels were fitted. These were sourced directly from ISP in the States, and VW Heritage in the UK.
The car has all its original panels & paint which are in very good shape. It has great patina both on the roof & front wings. The lower areas of the front wings were repaired prior to my purchase and there is a very slight colour difference in these areas.
I have added a new rear exhaust, shorter shocks all round, a 009 dist, and had a slight lowering (2 splines front – 1 spline rear) to give a nicer stance. Also fitted is the period Roof rack to carry the surfboard. It has the original Eberspächer heater fitted which i have never used.
The car drives and handles brilliantly. I rarely get time to use it now and it only comes out when the sun is shining. It was last serviced & rolling road tuned at Rawspeed in Plymouth Devon.
I have bills for the items I have added, including all the works undertaken on the car. I have the importation & shipping paperwork, Norwegian bills and paperwork relating to previous owners, and a bunch of accesories and parts which go with the car. Along with this are the original handbooks and brochures sold with the car when new.
Type 3’s are becoming rare nowadays and this is one of the most original non molested cars you can find. I am happy to supply additional photos & information if needed. Thanks.
