Description

1979, Inca Yellow, Condition 1, Show condition car.
Not to be confused with most MGB’s on the market, this car has won several awards at Car Shows since it had a complete nut and bolt rebuild three years ago.
The previous owner completed a no expense spared complete body and mechanical rebuild starting with a good, solid car.
A summary of the rebuild, mainly done professionally at specialists, is as follows: -
The previous owner searched for a good, solid car which had been rustproofed from new. Most cars were not in a good enough solid condition to warrant a complete restoration. Eventually he found a good, solid original car which was suitable.
The car was completely stripped of components and the body was professionally prepared and repainted, at some expense, in it’s original colour of Inca Yellow.

Engine sent to specialist and completely rebuilt, ie crank reground, rebored, new pistons, seals etc.

New, old stock Unipart Unleaded cylinder head.

Gearbox and Overdrive stripped and rebuilt professionally.

Back axle and diff rebuilt by specialists.

New front and rear springs and shock absorbers.

New steering rack and components.

New brake discs and callipers and rear drums, wheel cylinders etc.

New flywheel, clutch and release bearing.

New, old stock, genuine Lockheed brake and clutch master cylinders. Delphi clutch slave cylinder ( same as oe Lockheed)

Carburettors sent away and rebuilt as new by Burlen Fuel Systems
SU specialists.

New Hardi electronic fuel pump, and new fuel tank.

High torque starter motor.

All instruments sent away to Speedy Cables for complete rebuild and calibration, and fitting magnolia dial faces.

Dashboard restored and given an expensive walnut finish.

Expensive handmade leather banjo steering wheel with red enamel centre detail (£500. 00).

Top quality mohair hood professionally fitted.

Seats professionally re-upholstered.

Wheels media blasted and painted, inc spare. Chrome trim rings.

New Yuasa battery.

New windscreen.

Five quality Avon tyres.

Detailed engine bay.

This list is by no means exhaustive, there are many other new components, too numerous to detail here.

HPI clear, with certificate.

Original driver’s handbook and folder.

Receipts totalling over £10, 000 just for parts alone. When I was searching for an MGB I wasted a lot of time and fuel looking at cars which were mis-described. I particularly wanted a later model because they are much better to drive than the earlier cars. The later cars sit higher on their suspension making them easier to get into and out of. The higher suspension gives a more comfortable ride, greater ground clearance which is better for today’s poor road surfaces. The body is reinforced and much stiffer meaning less scuttle shake on the roadster. All later cars have the later Laycock overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears.
This is a genuine private sale from my home, not a muddy scrapyard!
