Description
Surely it remains the icon among classics, especially SUVs. Then again, there aren't many of those from that period, because Land Rover was obviously one of the first.
This classic was delivered new to the Firma Helikopter AG at Malzgasse 21 in Basel. When you see the premises, you just imagine a Tuscan Blue coloured Classic 3. 5 V8 in front of the door. The Land Rover dealer Schlatterbeck dubbed the Classic ‘De Luxe’. What that meant for the time is not entirely clear to me, but possibly, among other things, air conditioning! But what a lovely colour combination on this Range Rover. This Range has been on Dutch registration since 2008 and has had updates over the years.
Condition of the car:
Nice and reasonably tight specimen. Of course, the Classic already has some repair work behind it. For instance, the sills have recently been replaced and the complete interior has been reupholstered.
Driving:
You can so see yourself touring the Scottish countryside with this Range Rover. Bumpy and muddy roads, foggy and, of course, the only one on the road.
That's what it was made for at the time, just enough power and out on the road in all weathers. Of course, luxury and comfort are not really familiar to this boy. It's ‘back-to-basic’, but oh so much fun! Engine runs nicely, gearbox shifts as it should.
Maintenance:
As indicated, the Range Rover has been in the Netherlands since 2008 and more than neatly maintained by its previous 2 owners.
The V8 has recently received 4 new Continental tyres, a MOT and a new fuel pump.
