Description
1999 E36 BMW 323i 2. 5 M sport Convertible - Manual
I have owned this car since 2022 and it has been a pleasure to drive.
It has covered 83k miles and has been off the road for the most part of the last 10 years (always garaged). I bought the car in Feb 2022 as a gift for my 30th birthday and immediately went through everything that would need changing after being sat for 6 years or so (MOT history can be viewed on gov. uk website). The car had 4 previous owners, and has an extensive service history with old BMW dealer services, old MOT's and tax discs as well as the original invoice for the purchase of the car.
Upon getting the car which as I said, has been stored away from end of 2016, I have changed all consumables (oil and filter, fuel filter, air and cabin filter, belts, pulleys, thermostat and housing as well as the water pump - common problem with the plastic ones so upgraded there - spark plugs and brake fluid) with receipts to prove all the above.
Comes with the original wallet, service book and owners manual and 2 keys which include; Main key, Spare key.
The car has the following Spec: - 17'' Alloy wheels (with the original 16" available as well), Electric windows/ mirrors, Full electric roof, Full leather interior (ok condition, driver seat could do with a restoration but it's not too bad), Aftermarket CD player, climate control, Air con (Working), Central locking, Full size spare wheel with toolkit.
Currently the car has NOT got a valid MOT as it has been stored in my garage for the past 2 and a half years. I was only able to enjoy it for the summer of 2022 and parked it for winter, and then I discovered that I had brain cancer, and due to treatment and surgery, I was banned from driving initially for a year and then due to further treatment, they extended the ban until at least Oct 2025.
For that reason the car has been sitting in the garage gathering dust and not moving an inch. I kept it on a trickle charger, but the battery was old as it was, and subsequently it died, so I bought a new one, and the car starts on the first try. I have noticed that the top does not open anymore and that the light is flashing on the roof button. Might need e reset, or might be something more complex, but I will not be able to investigate. This needs to be had in mind when buying. Also, I bought the car with the rear plastic window being faded and a patch on it. It did not bother me as I was only driving it during the summer mainly with the top down and was eventually going to change the plastic window with the top as a whole. The top is the original one, does not have any tears or rips, but it is over 25 years old, so I would say would need replacing at some point. The car is fairly low mileage for the age and owners, but this is due to the fact that over the past 10 years has only covered 2k miles (I have done only about 1200 miles and it was amazing driving it. It revs nicely and being a manual you get to enjoy it on nice country roads.
The bodywork is in very good condition with no rust. This was one of my main fears buying the car, as I also have a BMW E30 325i auto (which will be advertised here soon as well) that I had been restoring at the point of buying the car for over 5 years because when sorting out the rust you keep finding more and more, so I needed something that I can use straight away, and this was a lot of fun.
Sadly, due to my condition and due to the fact I am not able to drive it and also because we are looking to move out of the UK in the next few months, I need to sell this and also the E30 (add to be live soon).
The car will come with some spare stuff as well (boot lining pieces extra, original rear seats that I changed for better ones from a donor car) and various other bits I managed to get for it during my short time driving it as it was my intention to bring it to concourse level as it was an original unmolested car and still is.
Please do not expect a concourse level car as it stands and please understand that the car needs a good going over as it has been sitting again for the past 2. 5 years, mainly the fluids and the checking of the electrics for the roof (all these have been factored in the asking price).
