Description
Ford Fiesta XR2 1988
This is a Left Hand Drive French registered vehicle that has spent its life in the South of France so is a rust-free, very solid example unlike most UK vehicles. It's not concours but it is in a very good condition for 37 + years old. The previous owner, was planning on using it to do historic ralleys so it has a Ford reconditioned engine, it has tubular manifold and coil over suspension and much of the interior was stripped out but unfortunately was lost in a fire so it does need quite a few interior parts, I shall list the main parts it needs to complete it and it doesn't have the correct front bumper or spot lights but I am trying to source some parts for it.
It will be supplied with a Weber 32/ 34 carb as the original ones on these later XR2's are crap.
The compression is very good and it starts on the button.
The pepper pot wheels are in great condition and have new tyres.
The bodykit is in very good condition, not all baggy and misshapen.
This car is based in the South of France with easy access from Beziers, Carcasonne, Montpellier and Perpignan airports
Parts needed: Roof lining, steering wheel, clock, roof aerial, door cards,, rear wiper, towing eye cover... I bought it for the same reason most of us do really, Nostalgia!! they are such a fantastic little car, great fun and always put a smile on your face. Nowdays they put a smile on the faces of passers by too! I had two when I was in my twenties (back in the early nineties) a dark blue one and a red one, same as this but I'm having some ongoing health issues and I have a small collection of other cars in need of restoration that were here before this one so sadly it's gotta go.
