(MOT & tax exempt august 2025)This 1984 Renault Fuego Turbo was originally sold new by Old Oak Renault and purchased by John Cantwell, on private reg PTR 128 who ordered the car in black with extras of air conditioning and a vinyl roof, opting to exclude the Turbo decals.
The car remained in Mr. Cantwell's ownership for 28 years until 2012 when it was acquired by car dealer Denver Ottewell from Mr Cantwells deceased estate. By that time, the car had covered only 4, 600 miles.
In 2012, the car was purchased by the second owner John Lewis with a new reg of B900 MLW, John Lewis had a full recommissioning of the fuel and brake systems carried out including opening up the tank, sealing and welding back together.
The car passed its MOT in 2012 and was MOT'd every year until 2016, covering just under 1, 000 miles going to mainly summer car shows during that period. It was then stored away again until early 2024, when it underwent a full service and MOT.
Exterior: The car is in really great condition, only two points of note, there is a 1p-sized dent on the paintwork, the vinyl roof also has a 2 cm tear. Both these points are visible on the provided photos.
Interior: The interior remains in time warp condition still featuring the original plastic wrap on the bottom of the seats.
Underbody: The car was treated to SuperGuard underbody protection from new, which has undoubtedly helped preserve its underside. It has never been welded as expected, and the wings, A-pillars, and bottoms of the doors are completely solid as you would expect. The gearbox bracket looks as new, and the rear arch sills still show the original visible spot welds. The car even has the original unused radial spare tyre dating 1983.
Summary: With only 5530 miles on the clock and 2 previous owners, the car drives as expected: smooth, tight, and responsive. The engine idles perfectly, and the overall driving experience is as close to new as you can get. Battery isolater fitted. Any viewing, inspection or test is welcome.
