Description
Excellent sound and original condition but not concourse. There is some small bubbling on the offside wing and bonnet channel. The underside is excellent. The color is Powder Blue/ Corinth Blue and the paint is reasonable. The interior is serviceable and original and a spare set of seats with front headrest is included. The engine is the original 1500cc which has been lightened, balanced, and has a modified cylinder head with a four-branch manifold. No knocking and has excellent oil pressure and cylinder compression pressure. The carburetors are twin Zenith 36WIP2 with chokes and jets as per the Rootes tuning guide of the period. It has an uprated 8 1/ 2" diaphragm clutch (H120 pressure plate and AP Racing friction plate). Servo brakes. Overdrive. Extra leaf in rear springs with steel spring pads. Thick front anti-roll bar (3A spec) with Power Flex bushes. Spax gas shocks all round. Full three-point harness.
Five bearing 1500cc short engine available by separate negotiation. Balanced and lightened with an H120 flywheel, 8 1/ 2" clutch, and much more. This a reluctant sale of my much loved Sunbeam Rapier. Owned by me for some 25 years. Originally purchased by me to compete in Historic road rallies. It is a very enjoyable car to drive with excellent handling and a very comfortable interior. Could easily be made a Concours car. It is my advancing years that forces sale and it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
