Description

1961 Wolseley 1500 mark2. Just 44, 600 miles. Believed to be correct, with just 6 previous owners.
Car first registered in Nottingham and supplied by Wolseley main dealers Shipside. Original colour and trim, with the exception of the carpets, which have been renewed in the original colour.
Built on the 4th May 1961, and first registered on the 18th May of the same year. Heritage certificate included.
This beautiful car is as genuine as you can get. Engine, gearbox, chassis numbers are all correct.
Since purchase 2 years ago I have done the following work:-
3 x oil and filter changes,
Rebuilt carburettor,
Rebuilt fuel pump,
Fitted electronic ignition,
Fitted spin - on canister oil filter conversion,
Changed the coolant, gearbox and rear diff' oil.
Checked ad adjusted valve clearances, and lubricated all grease points.
All work carried out has been recorded with appropriate mileage, and I have ALL bills to prove.
I also have the bill of sale for the car, which I bought from a classic car dealer for £7450 just 2 years ago.
I am selling at a considerable loss, despite the improvements I have made to the car mechanically.
I feel I have priced the car correctly for the condition of the classic car market currently. As I explained, during my ownership, I have greatly improved the running of the car to how it was when purchased by myself.
The engine idles excellently, has correct oil pressure when warm and cold, as specified in the service manual, does not jump out of gear and is oil tight. The brakes work well, (No servo assist), and the clutch is smooth and reliable.
The bodywork is generally excellent, with only mild surface rust in the odd place such as the door bottoms and a small patch on the top of the o/ s wing. There are no holes or rough edges, and this includes the underside and the boot area. Trim is excellent.
All door locks, window winders lights and horns etc work. The fuel gauges currently shows full as soon as the ignition is turned on, and this has developed since I bought the car. Initial testing, (ie groping about behind the dash), suggests a loose wire or earth as this results in the gauge responding correctly. I will endeavor to fix this issue before sale if I can.
Overall, this is a lovely drivable everyday classic vehicle. Rarer than the Morris minor or Mini, but every bit as charming.
I am simply selling it because I have only managed to put 1, 100 miles on the car in 2 years, and I am unlikely to use it much in the future due to commitments with other vehicles and my garden.
Please feel free to ask any questions, and view the car, bearing in mind that I DO NOT use it in the rain or if the roads are covered in salt so cannot guarantee a test drive in any of the afore mentioned conditions .
I also have all parts removed for upgrading , as mentioned earlier.
Thank you for looking.
Tim.
