This 1959 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe is an original right hand drive car and most recently purchased by its present owner from the well known Jaguar Specialist Classic Motor Cars in Bridgnorth, in April 2022 , to enjoy touring in Europe alongside his wife’s 1961 E-type.
It is Chassis Number S824811DN.
Over its years of ownership the car has been much loved , plus regularly toured and has undergone a comprehensive programme of work as well as consistent upkeep to enable that, It drives superbly.
As ever it is regularly checked over and prepared by specialists; in most recent years in our own workshop here at The Supercar Rooms after many years with CMC.
676 HPP left Jaguar’s Brown Lane on 23rd March 1959 bound for Henley’s London who’s original dealer Motor Work Chalfont sold the vehicle to its first owner - a Mr A Marshall on 5th June 1959, As with many classic cars there is a large unknown period as to the vehicles whereabouts until 2005 whereby it was purchased as an unknown restoration project, there is a lovely paperwork trail within the history enlisting the help of David Bentley of XKData alongside The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust to identify through the chassis and body number the vehicle as the long forgotten 676HPP,
In 2010 David Bentley was once again contacted about the vehicle by a prospective purchaser to the ongoing project, it was inspected by him and confirmed that the vehicle retained its original engine block which remains in the vehicle to this day,
In 2011 the vehicle had been completed and was registered with its original registration of 676HPP under the guidance of Keith Vincent of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club. The correspondence then further traces the vehicles ownership through the next few years until 2016, when it was acquired by the previous owner; since that ownership no expense has been spared in getting the car up to a high standard and keeping it there so that it could be enjoyed in regular touring usage.
Since that change of ownership in 2016, over £50, 000 has been spent on a combination of maintenance and enhancement to its driving performance and comfort , whilst totally retaining its originality .
Work to “676” has included suspension , brakes , electric cooling fan , fuel and ignition systems plus an alternator conversion . Then CMC were entrusted to carry out further work which consisted of mechanical and various period upgrades such as : rear axle overhaul , new drive shafts , complete brake overhaul , wiper upgrade , window winders and seals , keys and locks, electric ignition , carb balancing and tuning .
Further to the mechanical and external cosmetic work , “676” also had a full re-trim by specialists Aldridge Trimming , which included new replacement shallow bucket seats and a new set of chrome wire wheels .
All of this care and work can be identified in the car’s illustrative history file, containing the invoices and receipts of work coupled with notes of the car’s history .
More recently with ongoing maintenance and further restoration by The Supercar Rooms, “676” has received ongoing maintenance along with further upgrades including upgrades to increase the usability to the heater system, fitting of LED headlamp bulbs.
In the words of its enthusiast owner - as it is such fun to drive and is always attracting attention wherever it goes , whether that is Silverstone or Le Mans where it has enjoyed several visits in the last few years .
The present owner is reluctantly looking to sell “676” as he bought it to tour Europe alongside his wife’s 1961 E-Type , however due to a recent injury his wife can no longer drive a manual gearbox vehicle - - - so it is time to find “676” a new long term home .
