This stunning Jaguar E-Type Open Two Seater more commonly known by its "OTS" abbreviation was built on the 31st August 1961, it's a lovely example of an early car that has the much desired flat floor, delivered new to the United States where it remained until 2015 prior to being imported by its previous owner.
This particular vehicle bares the Chassis number 875443.
It is accompanied by a wonderful history file containing an overview of the vehicles ownership in California from 1968 through to the present day, consisting of just 4 owners over those 57 Years.
In addition to invoices from as far back as 1975, it also contains 3 photo albums documenting the vehicles life in the UK, beginning with a restoration completed by E-Type specialist Butlin & Sons less than 2, 000 Miles ago to the sum of £45, 000 prior to being purchased by the current owner, in its current ownership since 2021 it has received a further £28, 000 of additional upgrades and maintenance to ensure its ongoing reliability.
The accompanying JDHT certificate confirms that the vehicle left the factory on the 7th September 1961, dispatched to its supplying dealer, Jaguar Cars of New York, its first owner is unknown, however it is believed that the engine and gearbox were replaced early in the vehicles life under warranty as the engine bares the casting date of October 1961. Both Engine block and Cylinder head, show matching numbers of R3175-9.
Like many E-Types, throughout its life it has been repainted in various colours, the final owner in the US purchased the vehicle as a restoration project finished in White paint with Black leather, he set about his strip down unearthing many colours, settling on what he believed to be the original colours of Opalescent Maroon with Biscuit Interior, a project that took him some 17 years to complete,
In 2015 it was purchased by its first UK owner from the Dealer, Beverly Hills Car Club, it was then imported to the UK to begin the next chapter of its life, upon arrival, whilst a rust free example the previous owner noted that the JDHT certificate listed the vehicle as Opalescent Dark Green rather than its current shade of Maroon, after discussing with JDHT it was decided to return the vehicle to its factory colour, it was entrusted to Butlin & Sons to undertake the restoration to ensure the vehicle was original as possible, a task which they have completed brilliantly with a photo album to document the works carried out.
875443 began its most recent chapter in 2021 when its current enthusiast owner purchased it as a 60th Birthday present for his Wife, the intention was for them to journey across Europe together with both the E-Type and his XK150, this particular vehicle also had the added bonus of being a matching specification to that of the E-Type OTS owned by his uncle back in 1962. Since purchase the vehicle has undergone regular maintenance works to ensure its ongoing reliability, during discussion around its ongoing usability, the owner commissioned a custom set of fitted luggage to be created and it was decided that the vehicle should acquire a hardtop roof, we were fortunate enough to source an original factory hardtop in need of restoration, a job entrusted to CMC of Bridgnorth to ensure its finish and fit match the ongoing quality of the vehicle.
Sadly due to a recent accident, the current owners Wife is no longer able to drive a manual vehicle and is now up for reluctant sale.
