A near perfect example of an XJ-S Coupe that has spent much of it's life in a collection prior to my purchase in October 2017 from a trader based in Hampshire. Log book states 6 former keepers though 3 of these are thought to be transfers within 1 family for inheritance purposes. The car has a full MOT history to 2006 after which it seems to have had periods of storage under SORN to 2012 when it was back on the road prior to my purchase, carrying a confirmed mileage of 16, 626. Under my ownership, the car has received full annual servicing and MOT, irrespective of mileage, which now stands at 22, 060. I was attracted to the car as a strong basis for upgrade to a perfect example. I believe it has now met that brief and while I do love it, it's not getting the attention it deserves so would like to pass it on to someone who would enjoy it more and give me room in my garage at the same time. Following my purchase, various issues did come to light, likely as a result of its storage and low use history but otherwise due to age. In 2020 the car went to KWE Jaguar for a full assessment and effectively a full recommissioning to iron out any flaws. Further work was carried out by Smallman Hall in 2024. Through this process the screens were removed, bodywork issues addressed and the car given a full respray with ceramic coating. Bumpers were re-chromed, cavity wax and underseal applied to sills and wheel arches. Engine fuel rail replaced with new hoses and injectors serviced. All fuel hoses replaced for suitability to E15 fuel in support of European touring. Aircon recommissioned with new dryer and condenser and adapted to suit R104 gas. Renewed suspension bushes, dampers and rear springs. Replacement front brake discs & pads, renewed coolant hoses, rebuilt steering rack and new subframe mounts. Re-veneered wood throughout by a Crewe based craftsman. The car is fitted with a period appropriate Kenwood DAB radio - the original Clarion unit has been repaired by a specialist and is included, as is a quality indoor branded car cover. I can now look at the car and enjoy a full retro experience to the 1980s and a car that is now likely in better condition that when it left the factory. I am particularly looking for an enthusiast who would enjoy making proper use of it and who can ideally keep it garaged. It is difficult to find similar examples on the market for reference value given its condition, low mileage and ownership history. The price advertised is best shot and is close to a third of what has been invested.
