Description

This is a 1966 model year 911 S with a short chassis and counterweights in the front bumper. 1966 was the year in which the legendary 911 model S appeared. Fewer than 600 911 S models were produced in 1966, and the lines of all 911s were modified in 1968 by increasing the wheelbase by 7 cm and then by 5 cm. As a young 911 S enthusiast, I bought this car in 1988, when it was already very rare. The numbers on the chassis, engine, gearbox and dashboard instruments match. I have no information on the previous owner, who bought it from a classic car professional.
Since my purchase, the vehicle has been stored in a closed garage. No modifications other than the installation of a more comfortable driver's seat. From 2017 to 2019, complete renovation of the body. The vehicle is renovated bare metal on a rotisserie. Complete dismantling, sandblasting of the chassis, change of the front cradle, 4 wings, new parts purchased from Porsche Classique Germany. During sandblasting, the original BAHAMA yellow colour appeared.
After 2 coats of primer, the original BAHAMA yellow was restored. All the chrome is removed and restored. The 4 original Fuchs rims are also restored. The engine is removed in 2017 and completely dismantled. The piston rings, valve seats and connecting rod bearings are replaced.
The electrical and ignition circuits are renovated. An electronic booster is fitted to the ignition to facilitate starting. The gearbox linkage is renovated in 2023 at Porsche Classique Vélizy, which also passes the technical inspection. During the 2017-2019 restoration, the interior and upholstery are completely renovated in the original black colour. The invoice is €10, 000.
The original Webasto heater (petrol-powered, we advise you not to use it!) has also been renovated. There is no service book, but all the invoices for the 2017-2019 renovation are available for a total budget in excess of €150, 000. The 2019 and 2023 roadworthiness tests and the 2023 gearbox invoice are also available. The vehicle was appraised in 2019 when it came out of restoration. The expertise file is available. Minor defects noted in 2023: front service brake imbalance and left headlight optics. Since the end of the restoration in 2019, the vehicle has covered 2, 000 km without any problems apart from the gearbox linkage defect which was resolved at Porsche Vélizy in 2023. The tyres and brakes are new in 2019. The car starts without any problems when cold. It drives very well in traffic, the idle is stable.
