1976 Yamaha XT 500

This 1976 1E6 US import was saved from a junkyard in Jordon Minnesota in May 2008, shipped to Switzerland. 12 month restoration collecting the necessary parts. After numerous enduro trips in France + Italy and 17 climate-controlled years later ... the bike is for sale.

Brought back to life in a manner retaining as much providence as possible. The tank keeps its original patina, other items such as the tachometer, frame, side covers remained untouched. For those parts that were beyond repair, either NOS or auction parts were sourced. For those parts no longer available, KEDO was sourced.

Details:
• Hand-made, stainless steel exhaust pipe and header (from Holland), true to the models first year of production.
• Complete front fork re-build including hard chroming of original primary shock tubes (1976 forks were of a different size from the remaining XT500 model years), drum brake repainted, new brake cable, new ProMoto WIRTH front springs. Forks were raised 10mm to increase ground clearance.
• YSS Stereo Shock absorbers installed 2021. Original rear shocks were repainted during 2008 restoration project
• Fuel tank – original paint and decals - original since 1976. Internal - rust removed and coated POR-15 Petrol Tank Sealer (silver coating) – this is the best option compared to other paint sealers used on other vintage projects
• Carburetor ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt 2008, new float, pins, carb rebuild kit, new gaskets
• K&N cone air filter. Original OEM air filter stored in a box
• Rims - original spokes, no corrosion
• New Italian handle bar
• Double USB plug installed
• Starting Number plate “Six-Days” aluminum with INOX bolts (KEDO)
• Original 1976 engine guard (plus KEDO replica available)
• Replica header pipe guard, stainless steel, painted black
• New handlebar controls left/ right hand
• New cables (front, rear brake, speedo, tacho, clutch). Original throttle cable remains
• Rear-wishbone sandblasted, “Rolls-royce” plated (nickel)
• Original genuine tool kit bag set, wrench, screwdriver etc
• NOS genuine Kickstarter lever pedal
• Brake pads/ linings replaced, new chain
• Seat cover is NOT original. Current spec is brown leather (rawhide) installed 1989, Mink oiled over the years with a rich, weathered patina appearance
• Mostly Yamaha NOS (original) parts were fitted over the years. KEDO (Germany) upgrades such as wiring loom, 100-WATT upgrade beneficial for USB accessories such as phone, GPS plus modern headlamp

• Rear Tire – Conti TKC80 - 4. 00 -18 TT 64R M/ C, Hinterrad, M+S Kennung

• Too many parts to list – briefly – original airbox, tool box, original rear tail-light/ plate fixture, headlamp, 4 new turning signals, contacts/ condenser points, spare original rear brake lever, left/ right brake/ clutch levers, tacho (with 1976 dial arm for refurbishing), spare kick lever, rear chain sprocket, rear (and rare) 1976 mud guard, tank decals, many INOX steel nuts, bolts, washers. 2 pairs new after market rear foot rests, light bulbs, repainted “Super Trapp” exhaust, Front fork seals, oil cap, 2 X carb kits.
