Description
Rare Bonneville T140D Special, one of only 262 produced in 1980. I've had the bike for around two years but I'm not a rider. It was previously part of a private collection and was well cared for but not ridden, hence the low mileage, which is genuine. It's been sat in my garage for the two years but I've recently done the following: Changed the battery, new spark plugs, cleaned the old petrol out of the tank and replenished with some fresh juice. I've changed all the oils and basically given it a good clean. It's in good cosmetic condition for a 45 year old BUT I've hit a bit of an impasse trying to get it to start. I don't know enough about bikes and it may be a very simple fix to get it working. It has been stood around for a while so probably does need someone who knows what they're doing to take a look. My leg hurts from trying to kick start it! There's no obvious reason that I can see, like the engine is seized up. It seems to crank over when using the kick start, but it's not firing. In a nutshell, selling as a non-starter. I've bled the brakes so these will need to be filled up with fluid again. I do have the new brake oil so that'll be thrown into the sale. Electrics work but I've noted that the indicators stay constant, I think that's a relay switch that needs replacing. Other than that I think it's in great condition and looks totally road-worthy. It's MOT exempt but I would imagine it'll need a little bit of recommissioning to get it back to the road, but like I've said, I've done a fair bit of this already. Very clean example with matching engine and frame numbers. V5 is present. Launched in 1979 and designed by Triumph's Tom Higham, the Triumph T140D Bonneville Special was a styling exercise inspired by the Yamaha XS 650 Special. Several T140D features such as the top-mounted rear disc caliper and revised grabrail became standard on the T140E. The T140D Bonnevilles were differentiated by their all-black paint paint scheme with gold pin stripes, the 2-into-1 exhaust, and a set of stunning Morris mag wheels.
