Description
An opportunity to acquire a rare ‘push button’ G-HN3 narrow tunnel (3 synchro, overdrive gearbox with 5 bearing engine), chrome bumper roadster. The ideal base for an FIA motorsport car.
It is presented in Dark Racing Green with Black leather upholstery including White piping and unmarked 15” Minator knock on Alloy Wheels with Avon tyres. The car was purchased by its first owner in Guildford on the 15th November 1966 and in the extensive history file a list of previous owners, MOTs back to 1986 and all receipts from 1988, heritage certificate, sales brochure and handbook. In addition, there is a folder full of rally boards, trinkets and catalogues of the events it has entered during my ownership.
I purchased the car in 2001, always garaged run in dry conditions and is currently MOT, VED and ULEZ exempt. In the history files it reveals that the car was subject to a full photographed body restoration (Changing the colour from Old English White to Green) in 1988 along with a full engine rebuild. In the mid ‘90’s it again had further extensive engine work and conversion to an overdrive gearbox.
In my ownership it has had thousands spent on it including a full gearbox and overdrive rebuild by Hardy Engineering and many improvements to make it a very reliable car. Such as 123 ignition, Revotec fan, Moss ‘Tourist Trophy’ large bore full stainless steel exhaust including performance manifold, Big valve unleaded head, K&N air filters, Ethanol proof fuel hoses, solid state fuel pump, uprated heater matrix, Speedo & Rev Counter refurbished by JDO, oil pressure and water temp gauge renewed, Single Bosch 12V battery conversion, high output alternator and sports coil and HT leads.
It is fitted with an original Motorola 114 MW/ LW radio, Leather Moto Lita style steering wheel, aluminum gear knob, tailored rubber mats, 12V socket, H4 headlights, Astrali Sports Mirrors, two sets of keys, ‘Pack Away’ hood. Tonneau over with sticks.
This car is not a trailer queen, it has been used and driven on many tours and events, including eight trips to France. As a result the paintwork is not perfect but still looks good from a few feet away and has been priced accordingly to reflect this. The car was accepted last year by Goodwood to display at the Classic Car Breakfast Meeting. The car features a BMC Works Livery, these are all vinyl decals and can be easily removed. They were applied for the now defunct Firle Hill Climb Revival a charity fundraiser event (non competitive), it was assigned No. 46 as its entry number in the 5 occasions it ran.
The reason for this reluctant sale is due to downsizing.
These cars are getting rare, this one is awaiting its new caretaker to further improve, enjoy, cherish and most of all use it.
