Description

Lovely BERYL 1962 LHD 1200 Beetle. A usable classic that drives well and has had lots of work done since its import from Sweden 2019. New battery, axles, brakes, suspension fuel tank, wheels tyres etc Charming car as they all are..... sadly lost my garage deal so need to pass on to new home. It was featured in Type2Classics Video ( - details above ) with the cal look. Which was sadly undrivable with so many potholes around here so I had them lift it back to normal.

VW is still under cover here just about. Only used a few times a month on appointments etc so mileage hardly moved.

Front seats have been re-covered but rooflining and rear seats need attention still. It has the original roll of cloth ready for rear seats. Otherwise all good really as most of the parts are newish anyway. Floor etc all be done and underseal is like concrete lol

I have added some pics of headlining I touched up with babywipes (tip from forums) and looks great. So as ever a bit of hard work will ensure the lovely material stays put. Its nice n tight. Stone chips n rust spots in general as usual. Funny thing is the spots have not turned to rust.... and looks almost galvanised, cant be! I did use a good polish wax when I got it so maybe thats it. I was gonna turn it into a distressed look car but Beryl Green is so lovely and will leave it as is. Ah Patina is teh word Im looking for. It doesnt need a paint job, its a working classic and thats how they should always be. Might touch up odd spots with silicon/ linseed oil... seems great.. any thoughts folks? Grab her quick before I change my mind now the glorious sun is here again and people wave as you pass like shes a star :) No not with one finger up either! Its so simple, like the good ole days we so desperately crave in this zombie tech world.

Has an eberspacher type heater under bonnet. No idea if it works.

Its 6volt too and all original. No issues beyond night driving is a no no lol===========================================

Before finding its way to Burwell the body had only received a minimal amount of welding and at some point, an older repaint, which now looks surprisingly original. So if you like a gentler level of patina, and a cool colour, this has the look dialled in.

The stock front drums have been upgraded for CSP zero-offset discs which now run through a dual-circuit master cylinder.

It’s a really honest car, which made it a deserving candidate for a makeover and whilst giving it the works we banished a few mechanical Gremlins that had snuck in.

Over the course of four days, we removed the original suspension –
and fitted an EVA Restos four-inch narrowed front beam with caster shims and rebuilt king pins in the dropped spindles.

At the back we’ve fitted one-inch longer dropped spring plates. As we all know, that extra inch makes all the difference as it allows us to get the tracking bang on.

Rear shocks are now T2D Bilstein’s and we also installed new braided brakes lines, new rear shoes and fresh wheel cylinders.

EMPI stye five spokes which have had the centres painted in flat light grey.
